This position performs all aspects of criminal casework on evidentiary materials, including evaluation and preparation of evidence, Latent Fingerprint training/analysis, interpretation of analytical results, preparation of case reports, active participation and commitment to improving the laboratory ISO/IEC 17025 quality assurance/quality control program, and expert testimony and support to District Attorneys.
Minimum Qualifications

A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements.
The ideal candidate will have three years of experience in forensic latent fingerprint examinations to include knowledge and training with the AFIS/AFIX/IAFIS systems; knowledge in the use of computers, knowledge of the rules of evidence, and knowledge of crime scene evidence identification, collection and preservation as it applies to latent fingerprint type evidence.

This mid-management position functions as the technical leader and is accountable for the technical operations of the DNA laboratory. The position will oversee the establishment and operations of a regional DNA laboratory.
Requirements: Three years recent experience in a forensic DNA laboratory where forensic DNA testing was conducted for the identification and evaluation of biological evidence in criminal matters, including experience as a qualified analyst on forensic samples. One year experience in managing and overseeing the day to day operation of a laboratory. Previous experience in laboratory design and quality assurance/auditing is desirable. Completion of a Master’s degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in biology, chemistry, forensic science or a closely related field, including at least 12 semester units (or equivalent credit hours) in biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, statistics or population genetics. The Monroe County Public Safety Laboratory is seeking applicants for two positions to be filled by a Forensic Digital Evidence Analyst II / III in the Digital Evidence Section of its ASCLD-LAB accredited laboratory. Qualifications: To meet the minimum qualifications for this recruitment, you must have: A Bachelor’s degree from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university in computer science or computer engineering field; positions in Public Safety Laboratory require a state and national criminal history background investigation, which includes a fingerprint check and passing a pre-employment drug test. Duties: include conducting forensic examinations of digital technology including computers and computer media, digital photography, Global Positioning System (GPS) tracks, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) transaction logs, and digital video and audio files for the presence of evidence relating to criminal activity. The Forensic Digital Evidence Analyst II position differs from Forensic Digital Evidence Analyst III position in that it handles more complex examinations and cases, has increased independence and has a minimum of three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience performing computer evidence analysis. In the wake of the 2009 release of the National Academy of Sciences Report “Strengthening Forensic Science,” the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) has been working to develop an accreditation program to meet the needs of the manufacturing and commercial testing industry. A2LA is seeking experienced forensic specialists to sit on our Accreditation Council and our Forensic Examination Advisory Committee (FEAC) and offer advice, feedback, and guidance to the forensic program. In addition, we are currently seeking individuals to act as contracted assessors for the program who are intimately familiar with standard forensic evidence collection, handing, preparation, and processing procedures. Compensation includes a daily rate plus travel expenses. Travel is estimated at 2 to 4 days for each assessment. The premier government contractor for Forensic, Biometric and Military Intelligence solutions, in support of our country’s fight against terrorism, is seeking multiple Latent Print Examiners and Forensic Technicians for employment as civilian contractors supporting US Military activities, both in US (CONUS) and abroad (OCONUS).
LPE’s trained to competency, with recent Latent Print Examiner employment are preferred. CLPE's are encouraged to apply, but certification is not required.
Duties
LPE's and Forensic Technicians stationed CONUS will assist in training US Military and government personnel in forensic collection and processing as it relates to the battlefield/wartime environment. This training is instructed by a team of forensic and military subject matter experts at a high speed pace. LPE's will also assess recovered latent prints for encoding and search, evaluate returned candidate lists and perform very difficult, complex fingerprint examinations and verifications. Forensic techs with ten-print experience and certification are also encouraged to apply.
In addition to forensic experience, any candidates with law enforcement or military experience as well as experience training those types of personnel are encouraged to also apply. Military or ATF weapons intelligence or explosive ordnance disposal knowledge and experience are a plus.
While deployed OCONUS, LPE's and Forensic Technicians perform technical and analytical tasks in the documentation, collection, and processing of latent prints. The work involves a scientific evaluation and comparison in determining the best method of developing, enhancing and preserving latent prints. Compares known and latent prints to determine positive identification or non-identification of the friction ridge detail.
Requirements
Latent Print Examiner
•Must be a qualified Latent Print Examiner;Demonstrated ability to effectively match latent prints to known prints;Provided expert testimony in court and/or be IAI certified;Proficient in processing porous and non-porous items for latent prints;Experience processing evidence with chemicals in a laboratory setting;Knowledge of AFIS database entry procedures and FBI ULW preferred.
Forensic Technician
•Demonstrated ability to effectively recognize latent prints of value;Proficient in obtaining known inked prints and major case prints;Proficient in processing porous and non-porous items for latent prints;Experience processing evidence with chemicals in a laboratory setting.
All Positions:

Analyze evidence, testify in court as an expert witness, prepare the annual lab budget request, monitor lab expenditures, and maintain accreditation by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors-Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD-LAB). The Lab Director will oversee the daily operation of all lab activities to serve the needs of the Weld County Sheriff's Office and the Greeley Police Department.
The Forensic Lab Director works under the general direction of a multi-jurisdictional board comprised of the Weld County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division Bureau Chief, the assigned Greeley Police Department Division Captain, and the District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District, or a Deputy District Attorney designee. The Lab Director is a Weld County employee, and day-to-day supervision is by the Weld County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division Bureau Chief.
The Lab Director will manage and administer the scientific and technical aspects of all the forensic laboratory. The Director will be directly responsible to oversee those functions taking place in the lab within the guidelines previously adopted through "Intergovernmental Agreements" and "Memorandums of Understanding." The Lab Director may also be assigned direct supervision of personnel working in the lab as agreed upon by the Greeley/Weld County Board of Supervisors.
